Crane Jobs In Demand at 2019 Career Fair

Opportunity came knocking for nearly 1,000 job seekers who flocked to WestGate Academy and Conferencing Center in Odon to explore career options at the second annual Crane Career Fair Nov. 6.

Crane announced earlier this year that its work is growing for the installation’s multiple mission areas, and along with that growth, comes the need to hire for 850 new jobs over the next three years. This mega-job fair is a direct effort to find qualified applicants interesting in “Serving Those Who Serve.”

As one of the region’s largest employers, which has been an economic powerhouse and fueled on region for decades, Crane offers opportunities that help keep the best and brightest workers in Southern Indiana, while also attracting new talent to our area. Employment at Crane offers job security, high-salaries for the region, and a great deal of mobility within the organization allowing for career variety and growth.

Naval Support Activity Crane and Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division plan to hire for a variety of positions, including electrical, computer, industrial, and mechanical engineers, computer scientists, information technology specialists, electronic technicians, contract specialists, security officers as well as other additional scientist and business positions.

Over 20 organizations from the installation were on hand to give attendees the chance to speak directly with recruiters, supervisors and human resource professionals about joining the team of federal civilians. Among the most popular stops for participants were Crane’s public works department and as well as the booths hiring for positions in accounting, finance and administration.

This year’s event featured 13 defense contractors also looking to add new employees. Ranging from engineering and software development to manufacturing and production, the companies play a vital role in supporting the work at Crane and their uptick in hiring adds to the variety of positions available to applicants.

During the fair, attendees were able to network, submit resumes, and participate in on-the-spot initial interviews. Multiple candidates were chosen for extended interviews and some were even offered positions during the event.

Many of the attendees were from Southern Indiana, but job seekers from Illinois, Ohio and Kentucky also made the trip in search of a new career. For those who did not make it to the career fair, you can submit your resume at [email protected] or visit USAjobs.gov to search for positions at Crane.
